Shannon Kail has been a Crime Analyst in the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) Intelligence Fusion Center for 4 years. Her primary jobs consist of criminal case investigations and tactical analytical support. She has been the lead analyst for the Milwaukee Crime Gun Intelligence Center (CGIC), Project Safe Neighborhood, Shoot Reviews and Gang Task Force. In November 2016, she trained at the Core Lab in the Naval Post Graduate School on advanced Social Network Analysis (SNA). MPD partnered with the Core Lab for continued training and consultation on SNA. Shannon and teammates are currently working on a systematic process for leveraging SNA to provide recommendations and solutions on firearm violence and NIBIN investigations. Shannon has participated in 3 research projects led by Police Executive Research Forum, Urban Institute and the University of Chicago to evaluate the effectiveness of the Milwaukee CGIC or supporting technologies. Before her career with MPD, Shannon served 10 years in the United States Army as an Intelligence Analyst supporting military operations & missions in Latin America and Asia. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies, Certification in Crime Analysis, and Certification in Geographic Information Systems.
