  • Common myths of the modern gunfight
  • The valuable forensic evidence that modern firearms bring to every criminal prosecution.

Prosecutors handling violent offender caseloads must be well grounded in the tools of their trade and they need to understand that jury pools are heavily influenced by the media messages they receive from television programming, cable networks, and Hollywood. Our daily exposure to the entertainment industry provides us with diversion and enjoyment. But can television corrupt our jury pool’s understanding of the real world? And how much influence does television have on a prosecutor’s understanding of the real world gunfight? Recognizing that Hollywood’s “best movies” frequently establish and embed false understandings of the modern gunfight in every viewer’s mind is the first step to recovery! This two-part seminar will expose the myths of the modern gunfight and explore the valuable forensic evidence that modern firearms bring to every criminal prosecution.
